Former governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim has emerged as the candidate of Accord Party (AP) for the 2019 governorship election in the state after dumping the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Ohakim’s decision followed the reported declaration of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume as APGA’s governorship candidate as well as what his supporters say is the pressure on him from the leadership of Accord Party for him to fly their flag in the 2019 election in recognition of his track records of achievements in the past.
Angered by Araraume’s declaration, Ohakim alongside other aspirants like Frank Nneji, Bright Nwanne, Steve Nwoga, Sam Amadi, Okey Ezeh have been in talks with other parties including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to pursue their governorship ambitions.
