A former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has called on state governors to emulate the governance style of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ribadu, who gave the advice on Wednesday while addressing newly elected and returning governors at a retreat organised by the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) in Abuja, urged them to be careful and accountable when discharging their duties.
He said: “You are lucky you have someone to learn from. Please emulate President Muhammadu Buhari. He has no business partner. Nobody sits with him to make deals. We don’t have overnight billionaires again. He is a good leader to emulate.”
Ribadu also told the governors to have it in mind that their activities–while in government–would be probed after they leave office because of the global attention on corruption by politically exposed persons.
He further maintained that the failure of state assemblies to checkmate their governors had informed the Federal Government’s decision of intervention through probe by the Police, ICPC and the EFCC.
