In a decisive operation, troops from the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, along with the Nigeria Police and operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS), engaged in a fierce encounter with Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) fighters at Fuji junction in Asaba, Delta State. The operation resulted in the death of two terrorists, while five others were arrested.

According to a statement by Nigerian Army spokesperson, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the joint forces swiftly responded to distress calls reporting an attack on the community by the terrorists. In the ensuing battle, the combined troops displayed overwhelming firepower, leading to the fall of two of the terrorists, while the rest fled to their hideout near Okpanam river.

In a commendable pursuit of the fleeing criminals, the troops successfully traced them to their enclave in a house around Okpanam river, where they were apprehended. As part of their success, the security forces also seized one AK 47 Rifle, one Pump Action Semi Automatic Rifle, 15 Live Cartridges, one AK 47 Rifle Magazine, and a Baofeng Radio Receiver.

Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, lauded the combined troops for their bravery and urged them to maintain their synergy as they continue to restore peace and tranquility in the region.

In light of these developments, the security agencies call upon the public to cooperate actively by providing actionable information to support their operations in tackling security challenges in the area. Such collaboration is crucial for maintaining safety and security in the region.
