Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has immediately suspended the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon Omoun Perez. Governor Oborevwori also directed the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Bennett Agamah; Assistant Director, Agricultural Engineering, Engr Oki Yintareke; and Chief Accountant, Gabriel Idiatacheko, to take compulsory leave.
The Government House Press Unit disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Perez’s suspension aims “to investigate the claims and perceived infractions related to the management of the scheme by the Ministry,” the statement explained.
Furthermore, the governor established a seven-man committee led by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, to investigate allegations against the government officials. “Following the review of the Greenhouse project implementation by the State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori has formed a seven-man committee chaired by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu,” the statement added.
“Based on the interim report of the committee and to ensure unhindered access to information during the investigation, Governor Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori has sanctioned the immediate suspension of Hon. Omoun Perekebena Perez, Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources. Meanwhile, Bennett Ezon-Abode Agamah, Permanent Secretary; Engr. Oki Preowei Yintareke, Assistant Director, Agricultural Engineering; and Mr. Gabriel Idiatacheko, Chief Accountant, are instructed to take compulsory leave until further notice, adhering to Civil Service regulations.
The government’s action does not imply guilt but is a precautionary measure to uphold the integrity of the ongoing investigative process, ensuring impartiality and fairness.”
