The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully rescued the traditional ruler of Dari, Chief Emmanuel Omanji, who was abducted from his palace in Kokona Local Government Area on May 28.
In a statement issued Tuesday in Lafia, the command’s spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed that the monarch was freed at about 11:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, during a coordinated operation in the Panwasa Mountains, near Mada Station.
“The command is pleased to report that the Sangarin Dari, who was abducted on May 28, was successfully rescued unhurt,” Nansel said.
Following his rescue, Omanji was immediately taken to a medical facility for a check-up and has since been reunited with his family.
The operation was carried out by the command’s Search and Rescue Team under sustained pressure on the kidnappers. Nansel noted that efforts are still underway to track down the fleeing suspects behind the abduction.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, expressed gratitude to members of the public for their timely information and support, which proved vital to the success of the mission. He also lauded the collaboration of other security agencies and local vigilante groups for their instrumental role in the rescue.
Authorities have assured continued efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and improve security in the region.
