U.S. President Donald Trump has filed a $15 billion defamation and libel lawsuit against The New York Times, four of its reporters, and publisher Penguin Random House.

The case, lodged in Florida’s Middle District Court, challenges several publications, including a pre-2024 election editorial and the book Lucky Loser: How Donald Trump Squandered His Father’s Fortune and Created the Illusion of Success.

Trump claims the reports and book knowingly contained false statements that damaged his reputation, undermined his political ideology—particularly the “MAGA” and “America First” movements—and inflicted financial losses on his business ventures. He argues the defendants acted with “actual malice” in publishing the material.

According to the complaint, Trump cited the decline in the stock value of Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) as evidence of economic harm stemming from the publications.

This marks the latest in a series of lawsuits Trump has filed against media organizations this year as he continues to battle coverage he deems false or politically motivated.

As of Wednesday, The New York Times and Penguin Random House had not issued a public response to the filing.
