President Bola Tinubu has appointed Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs following the resignation of Yusuf Tuggar.

Tuggar stepped down from the position to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections, paving the way for Odumegwu-Ojukwu’s elevation. She previously served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

In a related development, the President nominated Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, subject to confirmation by the National Assembly.

Until his nomination, Enikanolaiye served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations. A career diplomat, he brings over three decades of experience, having held key roles including Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic postings in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.

According to the presidency, the appointments form part of ongoing efforts to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy framework to enhance efficiency, deepen strategic engagement, and strengthen global partnerships.

President Tinubu congratulated the appointees and charged them to advance Nigeria’s national interest, promote economic diplomacy, and safeguard the welfare of Nigerians both at home and abroad.
