Former Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of being too disorganized and reckless to organize and conduct the 2019 general elections.
Bafarawa, a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who made this known in a statement he issued on Wednesday said APC’s incapacity in the way it conducted its ward congresses shows that the much- anticipated 2019 elections may not see the light of day.
Bafarawa maintained that entrusting a crucial national assignment as a general election to the APC in its current disorganized state would be a dangerous gamble in view of the current security situation in the country. The statement read in part: “If the APC and its government cannot organize peaceful, fair and credible congresses, how can it hold a general election that will most likely bring about a change of government?
“An election is a very serious event and a party or a government which cannot deal with its internal issues cannot face the reverberations of a general election.
“The problem with the APC is greed. Those at the commanding heights of the APC administration are driven by desperation. They want to hold on to power at all costs.
“The result is the deadly struggle that has now manifested in the rancorous APC congress across the country.”
