Dr. Sunday Njoku Okoro is a seasoned medical practitioner and a distinguished healthcare leader with over a decade of experience in clinical medicine and hospital administration. Born on May 9, 1984, in Onicha, Ebonyi State, Nigeria, he has dedicated his career to improving healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

Dr. Okoro’s academic journey began at Onicha Central School, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1994. He continued his secondary education at Community Secondary School, Azuinyaba, earning his Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) in 2000. In 2010, he graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, demonstrating his passion and commitment to the medical profession.

His professional career commenced during his Housemanship Programme at the Federal Medical Center, Abakaliki, from June 2010 to May 2011, where he gained foundational experience in clinical practice. Following this, he completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Barnawa, Kaduna State, in 2011–2012.

Okoro further enhanced his clinical expertise as a Medical Officer (Locum) at Maigari Memorial Hospital in Kaduna State from November 2011 to August 2012, where he played a pivotal role in providing quality healthcare services. From August 2012 to September 2018, he served as a Residential Doctor at Dominion Clinic, Lagos, honing his skills in patient care and diagnostics.

In September 2018, Dr. Okoro assumed the position of Medical Director at Ason’s Medical Center Ltd, Ketu, Lagos, where he has been instrumental in improving healthcare delivery systems, mentoring young medical professionals, and fostering a patient-centric culture.

Beyond his clinical responsibilities, he has actively participated in continuous medical education programs and seminars, reflecting his commitment to professional growth and staying abreast of advancements in medicine. He also holds a Diploma in Computer Operations, highlighting his proficiency in integrating technology into healthcare management.

Fluent in English, Igbo, and Yoruba, Dr. Okoro is a versatile communicator who bridges cultural and linguistic gaps in his practice.

It was in recognition of his contribution to nation building in the area of Human Medicine and Health Facility Management in Nigeria that Dr. Sunday Njoku Okoro was deemed worthy to be conferred with the Nigerian Achievement Award.
