President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has succeeded in stabilising the country despite its various challenges.
He stated this during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party and commended all the governors of all APC-controlled states for their contributions towards stabilising the polity.
The President also lauded the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in the country for curtailing the terrorist activities of the Islamist insurgent group, Boko Haram by chasing them away from their strong hold in Sambisa forest.
“I am happy to report that slowly and steadily, we have managed to stabilise the country and redirect the ship of state.
“We have restored prudence to the management of resources and confidence in Nigeria. We have stabilised the naira and increased our foreign reserve from 20 billion dollars to 40 billion dollars. The inflation rate is down.
“With considerable less resources available to the country, we have improved all the indices towards a stronger economy,” the President said.
He further charged all APC members across the country to get their acts together and co-operate with the Chief Ahmed Bola Tinubu-led reconciliation team towards strengthening and restoring order in the party.
